You’ll think I’m crazy, and you won’t be the first. But I enjoy doing my taxes every year. I like watching all the numbers coming together, and it gives me a sense of accomplishment when I’ve not just finished the taxes themselves, but ended off the year with a nice balance sheet and all my financial papers neatly filed.

This madness started young. When I was a teenager, I begged my Dad to let me help him with the taxes, and at 18, when my 21-year-old boyfriend groaned about doing his, I eagerly offered to do them for him. Sadly, he was just using an EZ form. Where’s the fun in that?

Which brings us to today. I just realized tax time is around the corner again, (hooray!) and I thought this would be a good time to start a blog about this joyous time of year. Expect entries on everything from 1040s to student loan deductions to the newest tax credits on the block. Just how much can you put in your IRA this year? I’ll cover it all.

So when Uncle Sam wants your tax money, Aunt Jane will help you out.
