Help With Income Tax

Tax Preparation: How to Get Your Income Taxes Done

Tax time is looming. You’ve started gathering your papers together. But then what? Well, there are four basic choices, and I’ll give an overview of those here, and talk about them in more detail in later blogs.

Your Accountant

If you have an accountant, you’re probably not bothering to read this blog. :) But in any case, a personal accountant can help you with your taxes or do them for you.

Tax Preparation Services

Tax preparation services will prepare your taxes for you for a fee. You may also have the option of getting your refund that same day, also for a price.

Tax Software

You can buy different software programs and install them on your computer. The software will ask you questions and fill out your tax forms for you based on your answers. There’s a cost to the software, but it’s far less than going to a tax preparation service.

Do-It-Yourself

You can get the paper forms or download them off the IRS website and fill them out yourself. Once upon a time, this was what most of us did. :)
